Four thousand farmers target Tesco
TESCO depots were the target of 4000 angry dairy farmers protesting at low farmgate prices on Wednesday night (29 March).
Farmers converged on 10 of the retail chains depots, including those in South Wales, Oxfordshire and Essex, reports the
Dairy farmers receive as little as 15ppl for their milk – the lowest price in real terms for 30 years – while supermarket prices have remained steady.
The National Farmers Union says 4200 farms have gone out of milk production over the last few years, and more than 5000 jobs in the industry have been lost.
