French farmers take protest McDonalds door

The French farmers union Confederation Paysanne is calling for
demonstrations outside McDonalds fast-food restaurants to protest
against US trade sanctions.

Its call comes a week after a McDonalds branch in the southern
Aveyron region was ransacked by farmers protesting against duties
imposed by the US and Canada on some European food imports.

The duties were imposed after the European Union refused to lift a
ban on US hormone-treated beef.
