Fuel protesters to meet ministers

REPRESENTATIVES chosen by farmers and truckers will meet government ministers to discuss the fuel taxes on Friday (22 September).

Spokesman selected by fuel tax protesters who met in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, on Thursday (21 September) will hold talks with transport ministers Lord Macdonald and Lord Whitty.

In a separate development, a government task force, led by the Home Secretary Jack Straw, will hold a second meeting designed to prevent another fuel crisis.

The ministers, with Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, have already met the Freight Transport Association (FTA).
