German BSE fears boost horsemeat

HORSEMEAT sales are soaring in Germany, with consumers turning away from beef as more cases of BSE are found, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Butchers are reporting an 80% increase in trade in horsemeat, including sausages made from a mixture of horsemeat and pork.
Germanys second case of BSE was confirmed in Bavaria, increasing consumer fears about home-produced beef.
The Telegraph says two other suspected cases are expected to be confirmed by Wednesday (20 December).
