German spreaders will add versatility

FERTILISER specialist NPK will launch its first mounted and trailed spreaders from German manufacturer Hufgard GmbH at the Royal Show in July.

In Germany, the spreaders have been used mainly as specialist hire or contract machines for spreading lime, an operation NPK believes has demanded durable construction while keeping astride of modern technology. But for the UK market the spreaders will be sold as more versatile machines for spreading everything from fertiliser to salt.

Appearing at the show will be the HAD1800 version, which NPK says is claimed to be the first mounted spreader which enables the farmer to spread a range of materials such as lime, slag, and fertilisers himself, without relying on a contractor.

The mounted spreaders will also allow smaller hill farmers to spread their own lower-cost fine-grade fertiliser on steep ground where other trailed machines are restricted. Hopper capacities are up to 3t, with material delivered onto the discs via a hydraulically driven belt with speed control.

Also at the show, will be the trailed HGS6000 model, representing a range complete with flotation tyres and with hopper capacities up to 10t.

Spreading widths for all NPK Hufgard spreaders are up to 24m for prilled fertilisers, for double overlap to 36m, or up to 18m for lime. Prices are from £5150. &#42
