GM benefits may be 10 years away
THE public will not benefit from genetically modified (GM) food for another 10 years, claims Janet Bainbridge, chairman of the Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes.
Ms Bainbridge appealed for a more rational debate on GM food and promised “a whole host of benefits” to spring from their adoption.
The products approved by the committee were “as safe if not safer” than conventional products, she insisted.
