Government set to scrap laws on quarantine

The government is set to scrap Britains quarantine laws for pets, in a move that will allow vaccinated animals to travel freely across the European Union.

Nick Brown, the agriculture minister, is understood to be keen to change the law.

A government inquiry is thought to have recommended a system of pet passports for animals that originate in rabies-free countries and that have been vaccinated against the disease.
