Grain market update

Wednesdays trading – 17 September 1997

UK futures followed Sterling in a very quiet market to finish 75p down on the day. Some talk of possible distressed French and Danish wheat saw the FOB market on the defensive. Danish wheat offered at around £98/t CIF. UK – biscuit types 10% protein, 250 Hag, 76-78kg, could be of use to those with portside mills.

Spot wheat unchanged at around £80/t ex-farm for those needing fallbacks and £90/t for top-quality biscuit wheat. Class 1 milling wheat was at £106-111, depending on location and quality.

Oilseed rape showed signs of improvement early yesterday as £160 ex-farm for December was paid – £30 up from harvest levels.
