Great British Beef Week returns for 15th year

Great British Beef week, a successful industry campaign that promotes British beef to consumers, returns for its 15th anniversary on St George’s day (23 April).
Highlighting the hard work and dedication of the farmers who produce it, the nationwide campaign, which runs from 23-30 April, also shines a light on the sustainable farming practices and exceptional taste of British beef.
The campaign was first founded by the Ladies in Beef group, which itself was created by former NFU president Minette Batters and Devon beef producer Jilly Greed.

It is supported by UK levy bodies AHDB, Hybu Cig Cymru, the Livestock and Meat Commission and Quality Meat Scotland, as well as the NFU, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, and Red Tractor.
As part of this year’s campaign, AHDB is putting the faces behind British beef farming at the heart of the campaign.
Baroness Minette Batters said: “Our farmers produce naturally delicious beef – British beef is not just a staple of our cuisine, it’s a symbol of our hard work and enjoyed by many at home and abroad.
“I encourage everyone to support our British farmers and enjoy British beef’s amazing taste.”
Welsh campaign success for HCC
Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) has highlighted the success of its latest beef campaign, Naturally Local, which ran during November and December 2024, ahead of Great British Beef Week.
Putting farmers at the centre of their campaign, the levy body said it reached over 1.5m people in Wales, with post-campaign polling showing that almost two-thirds of Welsh consumers were willing to purchase the product.
“We have complete confidence in Welsh Beef as a high quality, natural and sustainable product, and it is great that our farmers are such fantastically authentic ambassadors for it,” commented HCC brand engagement lead Philippa Gill.
The Welsh levy body is running a competition on its Welsh Beef social media channel and is set to launch a new recipe video featuring Welsh Olympic athlete Adele Nicholl as part of the wider national campaign.
Scotland
Quality Meat Scotland will also continue to promote Scotch Beef GI on its “Make It Scotch” Meta and TikTok channels, highlighting the quality, provenance and versatility of Scotch Beef to consumer audiences.
