Health lab admits mushroom boob
TESCO was forced to throw away hundreds of thousands of organic mushrooms after tests wrongly suggested they contained E coli 0157, reports The Times.
Mushrooms were removed from the shelves of 731 stores after tests from the Public Health Laboratory Service showed a “possible presence” of the bacterium.
But on Wednesday (17 May) the PHLS admitted the tests were mistaken and launched an inquiry.
