Help cut aid dependency
CEREAL growers are being encouraged to donate the value of a tonne of grain as part of Farm Africas drive to help African farmers become more self-sufficient and less dependent on aid.
The Grow a Tonne for Africa campaign, launched by Farm Africas president, Lord Plumb, aims to obtain proceeds from 1000 UK farmers, and has won backing from leading merchants and FW.
David Campbell, Farm Africas executive director, said the emphasis of the appeal was stability and growth rather than responding to emergencies, which was the target for previous campaigns. *
