Hole Shorthorns
THE Hole family from Chesterfield achieved the top price of 950gns at the autumn show and sale of Dairy Shorthorns at Chelford.
Their reserve champion, Amber Niobe Rose 24th, was claimed by Tony Weaver for his Ridgwardine herd at Market Drayton, Shropshire. She was by Maxton Derwent and was giving 25kg a day after a mid-October calving.
Judge Edward Crank, Chester awarded the championship to the in-milk cow Costley Anne 39th from G * Osborne and Son, Warminster, and went on to pay 700gns for this second calver for his Earls Gift herd. (Frank R Marshall and Co.) *
