‘Horror’ at le boeuf Anglais

FRENCH shoppers greeted the first appearance of British beef in their country in five years with “fascination and horror”, reports the Daily Mail.
Prime English beef took pride of place on Britains stand at an international food fair in Paris, despite still being illegally banned in France.
But the meat could not be sold, and butchers at the Meat and Livestock Commission stand were told they may only handle the meat with rubber gloves.
However, the mere presence of British beef in France has been hailed a victory for farmers and butchers by MLC chief Don Curry.
In its editorial, the Mail says the appearance of British beef under these circumstances was a “sorry spectacle”.
It says “our abjectly feeble” farm minister Nick Brown has achieved nothing in getting the ban lifted.
