Hotbox to check spuds for bruising
CAREFUL checking of potato samples for bruising is essential to help ensure premium crop quality during storage.
To make the task easier, Martin Lishman has introduced its SMQC Potato Hotbox – a device designed to heat potato samples and accelerate latent levels of bruising.
The unit is built to test up to five samples of 25 potatoes, which are each taken from locations around harvesting equipment such as webs, hoppers and trailers.
Each sample is labelled to indicate origin and heated over a 12 hour period before potatoes can be analysed for bruising levels.
Price is £1175 (01778-426600).
