EXAMINE hybrid wheats carefully when targeting fungicide sprays, advises agronomy company Farmacy.

Many are more advanced than conventional types sown at the same time, warns the firms Pam Chambers.

All three of the hybrids sown on Oct 8 on demonstration plots at Barr Farm, Lincs, are ahead of the conventionals, reinforcing the need for growers to dissect crops to determine spray-triggering leaf emergence, she says.
