Hydraulic axle can let handler work in narrow and wide…
SMALL telescopic handlers, designed to work in narrow feed passages, are not generally renowned for their stability when loaded booms are raised.
German manufacturer Kruger believes it has overcome this problem by designing an articulated telehandler with an hydraulically extending front wheel axle.
When the machine is working in tight areas the wheels can be as narrow as 97cm (38in) and when carrying loads in more open spaces, widened out to 1.65m (64in).
Imported by Danish company SM Maskiner, the K range comprises three models – two with 3-cyl engines and one with 4-cyl. Drive is hydrostatic employing individual wheel motors – an arrangement which allows the wheel width to be altered without undue effect on the drive line. Lift capacity is rated at up to 1.5t, with the two top models capable of extending lift heights from 2.5m to 3.3m (8.2ft to 10.8ft).
Price of the K1E, two-wheel drive machine is listed at 139,900 kroner – about £12,700.
Narrow for tight spaces and below, wide for stability. The Kruger articulated telehandler copes with both situations.
