uSLUMPS in pig and poultry production mean 300,000t less wheat and 200,000t less barley will be used by those sectors this year. But that will be largely offset by higher inclusion rates in most livestock rations, thanks to the better quality crop, says Dalgety commercial director Andrew Barnard.

&#8226 SCOTTISH seed merchant Gordon & Innes has signed an agreement with German company Saatzucht Fritz Lange KG, and Global Potato Marketing BV of Holland. The deal covers production, marketing and development of new varieties. Leading the way is Serafina, a salad variety that has outperformed Charlotte and Nicola in European trials. G&I says that a supermarket in the UK has already taken the variety on board. &#42
