&#8226 AUCTIONEER Penrith Farmers and Kidds has announced that its Penrith market will be the first in Cumbria to be licensed as a collection centre. It has been given the go ahead from MAFF officials now that form D restrictions have been lifted. The market will be up and running as a collection centre once it has been cleaned and disinfected and a 21-day compulsory standstill period adhered to.

&#8226 UK pigmeat is now bottom of the European pig price league table. It cost 94.5p/kg dw in April, compared with 122.4p/kg in Germany and 117p/kg in Spain, while Danish pork increased in price to just over 100p/kg.
