Irish beef magnate regains empire

IRISH beef magnate Larry Goodman has regained control of his meat processing empire nine years after it collapsed with bank debts of IR£500 million (£413m).

He has bought out the other shareholders in Irish Food Processors to gain 100% control of the largest beef exporting group in Europe.

It has 24 plants in England, Scotland and Ireland.

UK operations are carried out under the Anglo Beef Processors badge with plants in Bathgate, Edinburgh and Perth.

Goodman International collapsed after the collapse of payments from Iraq as a consequence of the Iran-Iraq war.
