Lamy downbeat after Seattle
THE EU trade commissioner is downbeat on the prospects for success in talks on agriculture after the collapse of the Seattle world trade talks last week, according to the Financial Times.
Pascal Lamy pointed out that talks post-Seattle would not qualify as a trade “round”, only as sectoral talks since they had no deadline and the agenda was not broad enough to allow trade-offs.
He also said the success record of such talks was mixed.
