A TOP price of 9800gns and an average of £2683 for the 174 sold from an entry of 214 were seen at the Limousin societys Carlisle bull sale.

Bailea Manx, tipped for top price as soon as he walked off the wagon, fulfilled his expectations for vendors Brian Jones, Powys. Buyer was S C R Mackean, Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Jim Goldies first prize-winner Goldies Marshall, by Huard, realised 8500gns to W Johnson and Son, Kirkwhelpington, Northum-berland, and heading for the same county was Mynach Nigel, a Hugo son from Dyfed breeders Ed Griffiths and Co. Buyers were Hexham farmers R D Archer and Son and J Hunter and Sons.

Reserve supreme champion Lodge Niknak from Ian Callion sold to M and R French, Islay, at 4500gns.

AVERAGES: 61 senior bulls £2402; 59 intermediate bulls £2873 and 54 junior bulls £2792. Females: four cows £1450; 21 heifers £1417 and 24 maidens £1021.
