Low dose clopyralid
ADDING low doses of clopyralid (Dow Shield) to standard sugar beet weed control programmes can boost control of difficult weeds such as fat-hen, black bindweed and fools parsley, says Dow AgroSciences.
"A multiple dose programme using Dow Shield at 0.25 litres/ha in a tank mix with phenmedipham, ethofumasate and a residual herbicide should be used from the cotyledon stage of the weeds for best effect," says the firms Rene Pollak.
The initial application is followed by three further doses in the tank-mix at two-week intervals, depending on weed emergence. The mix can help overcome larger weeds if there is a spraying delay. *
