HAS your winter oilseed rape lodged already?
Then semi-dwarf variety Lutin might be worth a look, says CPB Twyford. Yields in official trials only matched Apex, but on very fertile sites its rating of 9 for both stem stiffness and resistance to lodging could come into their own, reckons the breeder.
"Even where it is way too thick, it is not going to fall over," says CPBs Liz Williams. A plot was on view at Cereals 2000 and a limited volume of seed will be available this autumn. *
