MAFFs hedgerow survey biggest yet
MAFF has launched one of the largest ever surveys on hedgerow management, in a bid to see if there are ways to improve establishment techniques that will benefit wildlife.
Up to 5000 farmers have been sent a questionnaire asking for cost comparisons of different techniques under a range of environmental situations.
The two-year study, which is being carried out by London-based environmental consultants Catherine Bickmore Associates, will involve farmer interviews and regional field surveys, looking at hedges which have been established over the past five years. *
