Malaysia seeks rubber price aid

MALAYSIA, the worlds third largest natural rubber producer, is to ask Indonesia, the second largest, to join it in a move to support prices.

The initiative would not change Malaysias decision to pull out of the International Natural Rubber Organisation, the troubled trade pact.

Malaysia says it will leave the trading organisation next month. Thailand, the worlds largest natural rubber producer, will withdraw from March 2000.
