Man who shot his sheep speaks out
THE Exmoor sheep farmer who shot 14 of his sheep is interviewed in The Daily Telegraph today.
Maurice Vellacott farms near North Molton, Devon. He says the farming community has been “afflicted with a Government thats hostile to agriculture”. He believes there is a long-term plan to amalgamate small farms, and drive people like himself from the countryside.
Mr Vellacott is similarly dismissive of the Office of Fair Trading inquiry into supermarkets. The inquiry may or may not report to Nick Brown, the agriculture minister.
“The man admits he knows nothing about it,” says Mr Vellacott. “Its a delaying tactic. Hes going to say thank you Tesco, thank you Somerfield, and let us bleed a lot more.”
