Merger is off
THE partners of Smiths Gore and Smith-Woolley have agreed not to proceed with their merger.
This followed a decision taken by the partners of Smith-Woolley to deal with their telecommunications department in a different way to that envisaged in the merger proposal.
The merger of two firms which have traditionally specialised in rural property was expected to combine a management acreage totalling more than 1.5m acres from 25 offices from the south of England to the north of Scotland. It had been welcomed as a natural progression by two like-minded firms to consolidate and broaden their services.
Smith-Woolleys telecommunications department, based in Cambridge, is a market leader in its field and largely specialises in site-finding for telecom operators.
