Milk of the future

UK dairying will, over time, change from being a privately owned industry to one where dairy farmers co-ops process their own milk, according to Andrew Dare, chairman of Milk Marque Developments.

Speaking at the UK Co-operative Council forum in Manchester, Mr Dare said farmers organisations had no option but to invest in efficient processing plants, and to expand the markets for UK milk by exporting, import substitution and creating new demand.n
