Milk production falls further behind
By FWi staff
MILK production for September was lower than some had expected, putting the UK even further behind quota.
The Intervention Board put September wholesale deliveries at a little over 1 billion litres, almost 76m butterfat-adjusted litres below Augusts figure, and not that much ahead, cumulatively, of this time last year
Consultant Charles Holt calculates production to be 31m litres below his monthly profile, bringing the cumulative deficit to 156m litres.
Demand for quota has been strong, although availability is still tight.
Sale prices have improved to a butterfat-adjusted 16.75ppl, while leased quota has eased to about 0.6ppl.
