Milk production stays ahead
By Olivia Cooper
MILK production continues to be well ahead of last year, with the Rural Payments Agency putting November production at 1.06 billion litres, 53.5m litres ahead of last year.
This is just 14.8m litres down on Octobers figure, a much smaller drop than the average 45.8m litres fall from October to November.
For the first time this year, the UK is slightly above Charles Holts profile for the month, but the cumulative figure is still some 168.9m litres behind.
“With that much to catch up, the chances of meeting quota are extremely slim,” says Mr Holt.
“This level of production was widely expected, so quota values should not improve much further.”
