‘Milk shortage may hit consumers’
By FWi staff
A SPRING milk shortage could put prices in shops up by 4ppl, warn farmers.
The National Farmers Union says a drought looms because some dairy farms are going out of business and others cannot afford winter feed, reports the Daily Express.
NFU deputy president Tim Bennett told the newspaper: “Farmers cant afford to feed their families, let alone their cows.”
Both the NFU and the more militant Farmers for Action are campaigning for a price rise to farmers now.
