Moon may affect livestock – vets

By FWi staff

VETS believe that phases of the moon could affect animal ailments, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Ailments seem to increase during a full moon and parasites appear to become more active, while some farmers believe it is a hazardous time for some tasks.

Writing to the Veterinary Record, vet John Hoare reports references linking the full moon with upsurges in parasites, eczema and epilepsy.

And Feargal Hennessy told the journal that many clients would not dehorn or castrate animals when the moon was waxing.

They believed this would lead to excessive bleeding.
