Morley outlines farm subsidies

THE Government last night outlined projected farm subsidies for 1997-98 in a Commons written reply to Workingtons Labour MP Dale Campbell-Savours.
Junior Agriculture Minister Elliot Morley said hill farms were expected to receive an average subsidy of £25,900; dairy farms £4,800; and cereals farms £39,700.
The amounts included the livestock aid package to hill farmers of £85 million which was announced on 3 February, Mr Morley said.
