Mugabe faces censure over Zimbabwe land grab

PRESIDENT Mugabe of Zimbabwe will face an official reprimand when he visits Britain this week for his seizure of land from white farmers.

The British Government claims that acquisition orders on 841 white-owned Zimbabwean farms have gone against the policy agreed by Zimbabwes main aid donors.

The donors include Britain, the European Union, the United States, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

His Government assured them at a conference in September that its action on land would only be done in consultation with all stakeholders.

The IMF is currently withholding US$53 million (£32m) the Government needs while it waits for an explanation for the land grab.
