New drug from Dolly company

THE company behind Dolly the seep yesterday unveiled its first test results for a cystic fibrosis drug produced from genetically altered lambs.

Endiburgh-based PPL Therapeutics said the treatment was “safe and well-tolerated”. The treatment uses a human enzyme, AAT, which helps prevent lung damage.

PPL has genetically altered animals so they secrete the enzyme in their milk. The company said the new treatment showed “encouraging” signs of working.
