Newton Stewart ram sale ‘subdued’
THE two-day sale of Blackface rams at Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway, was a “subdued” affair, according to a report in the The Herald.
No five-figure sum was bid for the ram lambs. The 201 sold averaged £471.98 – down £554.10 on last year. The 1996 average was £1386.
The leading bid came for one costing £7500. Other notable bids were for £5500 and £3400.
