North Yorks unit moves out fast
A SALE has been agreed on the first sizeable farm to come to the North Yorkshire market since foot -and-mouth disease restrictions were lifted.
Hall Moor Farm, a 354-acre unit six miles to the north of York and previously within a movement restriction area, was snapped up after only a month of marketing. With a five-bedroomed house, one property was guided at £1.7m, valuing the land at £2200/acre, and it is understood that a price in excess of this figure was achieved.
Although the fact the holding was entirely arable helped offset potential foot-and-mouth worries property is still scarce enough in the county to warrant prompt marketing of all good commercial units, reckons selling agent Andrew Fallows of Carter Jonas York office. "If it is the right farm it wants to come to the market." *
