Novartis on a roll
MERGING Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz to form Novartis, the worlds largest agrochemicals company, does not mean an end to industry rationalisation, forecasts Don Taylor, head of Novartis Crop Protection UK, which starts operation this weekend.
He expects 90% of world agrochemicals business to be done by eight key companies in 2000, compared with the 10 now and 25 in 1970. However, he dismisses any further move by Novartis.
The new companys worldwide agrochemical sales are estimated to be £2,712m, 70% ahead of itsclosest competitor Zeneca. *
