Ombudsman rejects ostrich complaints
By FWi staff
THE Parliamentary Ombudsman has refused to uphold a complaint that the Department of Trade and Industry failed to protect the interests of investors in the Ostrich Farming Corporation.
The ombudsman had received over 400 individual complaints suggesting that the DTI had delayed unnecessarily in conducting an investigation into the corporation.
Brian Ketchell was disqualified as a director for seven years in May 1997 after the collapse of the Ostrich Farming Corporation, one of several troubled ostrich investment schemes.
