One-stop shop for EU cash

ALL Brussels cash payments to English farmers will be handled by a single body from 16 October when the Rural Payments Agency comes into operation.

The new organisation will deal with all CAP schemes, previously covered by Defra and the Intervention Board.

Farmers will initially see very little change to the claims procedures, but by 2004 all RPA matters will be handled at just five centres rather than the current 11.
