Organic farmer may sue over neighbours GM crop
AN organic farmer is considering legal action to stop a neighbour near Totnes, Devon, planting weedkiller-resistant genetically engineered maize.
The test site is close to where the organic farmer wants to plant a sweetcorn crop. The two crops could cross-pollinate.
The Soil Association has warned the organic farmer Guy Watson he could lose his organic status.
Friends of the Earth warned the case could be “only the first of many” if the Government did not impose a moratorium on genetically engineered crops.
