Circular feeder with a new look
BATEMAN manufacturing has launched a circular cattle feeder which has an extended base section and tapered top section – a major design change in ring feeders, says the company.
The base section is 2.96m (9ft 6in) wide and the top section 2.13m (7ft) wide. The inclined space between feeder bars reduces stress when feeding, increases animal safety, allows cattle to reach further – preventing waste – and reduces bullying because of the extra spread of feed area, says Bateman.
Each unit, which is made up of three sections for easy delivery and storage, costs £193.73 (01538-361326, fax 01538-360803).
Accurate inclusion of right additives
ANY granular or powdered feed additive can be accurately included into particular feed lines within a pig or poultry unit, with a proportioner developed by TFS.
The unit adds precise rates of additive to diet, such as sarcoptic mange medication, into dry or wet automated feeding systems so whole house or individual pen treatments are possible, without injecting individual animals or using medicated diets, says the company.
The proportioner can be infinitely adjusted to provide accurate inclusion rates. A basic unit costs £500 (01572-813020, fax 01572-813263).
Mark your card for aid
A FREE information card – CAP Facts – will allow producers to maximise what is available to them through EU and UK payment and support schemes, says business consultancy company, Browns and Co.
The card acts as a handy guide to CAP payments and deadlines for 2001, it says. Topics include basic details of the arable area payments scheme, common IACS errors and amounts of compensation. Details of all livestock payment schemes are included, as well as a list of key dates concerning CAP deadlines (01603-629871 or 01476-591991).
