Papers focus on Zimbabwe ruling
THE continuing occupation of white-owned farms by black farm workers in Zimbabwe continues to make headlines in British newspapers.
The papers focus on the latest developments in the crisis, following a ruling by the High Court in Harare that the police should evict the squatters.
The Express says that the ruling has created the first signs of a possible split in the government of Zimbabwes President Robert Mugabe.
Deputy president Joseph Msika ordered an end to the two-month long invasion of the white-owned farm, reports the newspaper.
But the Daily Mail says it remains in doubt whether Zimbabwe police will comply with the law, at least until President Mugabe returns from a visit to Cuba.
British foreign secretary Robin Cook will meet a delegation in London from the Zimbabwe government to discuss the situation on Friday (14 April).
According to The Times and The Guardian, the crisis in Harare could jeopardise Zimbabwes cricket tour of England this summer.
