Pea seed product hits downy mildew

PEAS with a downy mildew resistance rating of six or below should be dressed with new treatment Wakil XL (metalaxyl-M + fludioxonil + cymoxanil), says Syngenta.

That means all vining varieties, and in the combining sector all marrowfats plus new variety Croma. Espace, rated at seven, is borderline.

The new treatment also protects against damping off and ascochyta, replacing discontinued Apron Elite (carbendazim + cymoxanil + oxadixyl + thiram).

The cost will be about £90/t of treated seed, says brand manager, Bruce McKenzie. &#42
