Pig iron rations

AN EFFECTIVE alternative to iron injection is how Labtec is promoting its latest product, Neoglobin.

The oral paste supplies iron in chelated form, which the distributor claims assists in assimilation and avoids the possible toxic effects of high plasma concentrations of free iron.

Neoglobin should be administered at a rate of 2ml a piglet within the first 24 hours of life.

Labtec claims that oral supplementation of iron has several benefits including stress reduction. Neoglobin costs about 9.5p a pig treated (01270-214004, fax 01270-250703).
