CFC-Free cryogenic plumbing repairs are said to be possible with Rigids SF-2500 electric pipe freezing unit. It forms ice plugs in steel and copper pipe isolating the section to be worked on without having to shut down or drain the whole system.

The freezer heads are attached to the pipe – 1/4in-2in steel and 10mm-65mm copper – with either the hook and loop fasteners or ratchet clamp supplied with the portable unit, which has 3m-long rubber hoses for overhead working.

Special adaptors are available for freezing close-to-wall 1/2in and 3/4in steel pipe and 22mm and 28mm copper pipe. Price of the SF-2500 is £1075. (01462-485335).
