Plant experts support GM crops
THE “vilification” of genetically modified (GM) crops could harm efforts to feed the worlds growing population, a group of scientists has claimed.
More than 200 international scientists who attended a symposium on plant disease at the John Innes Centre have written to The Daily Telegraph.
The scientists claim that more than 40% of the worlds crops are lost each year to diseases, pests and competition with weeds.
They say that GM crops will be able to show a marked improvement in yield as well as reduce the use of pesticides and fungicides.
