Poor agrochem demand drags down BTP
WEAK demand for agrochemical intermediates was one of the factors that left BTP facing a 9% fall to £22.9 million in its pre-tax profits for the six months to the end of September.
A series of problems at a US-based insecticide business, Nipa Hardwicke, produced a £6m fall in profits.
The difficulties included wet weather caused by the El Niño weather system, destocking by customers and increased competition from India.
BTP is primarily a chemical company which concentrates on supplying the pharmaceutical industry.
