Poor crop and milk margins forecast
WEAK markets in both crops and milk will erode margins in both sectors over the next 12 months, forecasts the Agricultural Budgeting and Costing Book.
Agro Business Consultants 54th edition of the handbook predicts lower margins than six months ago when there was more optimism.
Richard King, the books editor, said: "The figures for this harvest do not look too good, but we are predicting a modest improvement for 2003 crops, on the basis of better world prices.
"A small bright spot is that prospects in the sheep and beef sectors are more favourable."
