Poor response to F&M
Suffolk County Council is being asked to change its emergency response procedures in the aftermath of its handling of the foot-and-mouth crisis.
A report drawn up by council officials says important lessons have to be learned and that a number of oversights have to be corrected.
It suggests there was a failure to involve some council departments and that there was a need for more staff training on emergency procedures.
However, Suffolk NFU chairman Alastair McCormack said he believed the councils response to the crisis had generally been good. *
